WAC Lighting PD407609-BKAM – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the WAC Swayzey PD4076 pendant work on a 277V commercial circuit?
Yes. The Swayzey PD4076 mini-pendant uses a canopy-concealed universal input driver rated 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same fixture goes on a residential 120V kitchen island circuit or a 277V commercial lighting branch with no separate part number or transformer. It is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in, so it needs a ceiling outlet box and a licensed connection.
2) Can the Swayzey PD4076 mini-pendant be hung over a bathroom tub or a covered porch?
It is ETL and cETL Listed for Damp locations, which covers an enclosed bathroom with shower steam or a fully covered exterior ceiling. It is not wet rated, so do not hang it anywhere exposed to direct rain or hose spray. Mounting is ceiling only.
3) Which dimmer do I need for the WAC Swayzey PD4076 LED pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or a TRIAC dimmer. Those are the two control types the Swayzey driver is built for. A standard magnetic low voltage or 0-10V control is the wrong choice here and will give you flicker or a dead bottom end of the dimming range.
4) Do I have to pick a color temperature when I order the Swayzey PD4076, or is it field selectable?
Field selectable. The PD4076 is a 4-CCT fixture with a switch for 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K, so you set it at install rather than specifying it on the order. For a multi-unit job that means one SKU stocked and still being able to match 2700K in apartments and 3500K in the lobby.
5) Is the Swayzey PD4076 pendant OK on a sloped or vaulted ceiling, and can I shorten the drop?
Yes to both. The Swayzey hangs on a slim electrified cable and the canopy uses push pin connectors, so the hanging height is adjusted on site without cutting stem sections, and the canopy is sloped ceiling compatible.
6) What do I choose between on the WAC Swayzey PD4076 pendant?
Two choices: glass, in Black Amber or Black Smoke, and size, 9.5 or 14. All four combinations are built, so either glass can be had in either size. Both share the same aluminum frame, universal driver and 4-CCT LED engine, so mixing a 14 over an island with 9.5 units over a bar still gives matched light.
7) If the LED fails in the Swayzey PD4076, do I have to replace the whole pendant?
No. The light source is a high powered replaceable LED module rather than a sealed board, so the module can be swapped. It ships with the LED installed and is rated for 50,000 hours, which keeps it off most maintenance schedules for years in a residential or hospitality setting.
8) Does the WAC Swayzey PD4076 meet California Title 24 for a kitchen lighting permit?
The PD4076 is stated CEC compliant and Title 24 compliant, so it can be used toward a California residential lighting compliance package. It is not Energy Star certified, so if a rebate program specifically requires Energy Star, this fixture will not satisfy that line item.
9) Is the Swayzey PD4076 pendant ADA compliant for a commercial corridor?
No. The PD4076 is not ADA compliant, and as a hanging pendant it protrudes well below the ceiling plane. Keep it over islands, tables and counters where nothing is in the walking path, and use a flush or recessed fixture where ADA protrusion limits apply.
10) Is the light from the Swayzey pendant good enough for food prep and color matching?
CRI 90 with a flood beam spread, so skin tones, countertop stone and food read accurately rather than washed out, and the mouth-blown glass diffuses it over a counter instead of throwing a tight spot. That combination is why it gets specified over islands, bars and dining tables rather than as accent downlighting.
