WAC Lighting WSW111608-BK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the WAC Lighting WSW1116 Swivet wall light run on 277V commercial power?
Yes. The Swivet WSW1116 uses a universal voltage driver rated 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V lighting branch circuits in commercial buildings. The driver sits concealed in the backplate, so there is no remote driver to find a home for. It is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in.
2) Can I set the color temperature on the WSW1116 Swivet in the field, or do I order a fixed CCT?
Field selectable. The Swivet WSW1116 is a 4-CCT fixture covering 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K, and you either pre-select the temperature or change it at install. That matters on a multi-building job: one part number covers a warm 2700K residential entry and a 4000K facade without stocking four SKUs. Color rendering is CRI 90 at every setting.
3) Does the Swivet WSW1116 meet ADA requirements for a corridor or entry wall?
The WSW1116 is listed as ADA compliant, which is what you need where a wall fixture sits in a path of travel and projection is limited. It is also CEC and Title 24 compliant, so it clears California energy code review.
4) What dimmers work with the WAC Swivet WSW1116 outdoor LED wall light?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. The LED driver dims continuously on those two types. Standard incandescent/magnetic low voltage dimmers are not the right control here, so if you are reusing an existing switch leg plan on swapping the dimmer to an ELV or TRIAC model.
5) What is the difference between the 8 and 12 size on the WAC Swivet WSW1116?
The Swivet WSW1116 comes in two sizes, 8 and 12, with the larger one giving a longer rectangular frame and more presence on a wide facade or a tall entry. Both share the same aluminum build, 4-CCT LED engine, universal voltage driver and Wet location listing, so the choice is scale and spacing, not performance or wiring.
6) When the LED eventually fails on this Swivet fixture, does the whole light get replaced?
No. The Swivet WSW1116 uses a replaceable high-powered LED module rather than a sealed board, so the light engine can be changed out instead of pulling the fixture. Rated life is 50,000 hours, and lamping ships with the fixture.
7) Is the Swivet an accent light or does it actually light a walkway?
Its distribution is flood, so it washes the wall surface and spills usable light onto the area below rather than throwing a tight spot. The offset cylinder rotates within the frame, which lets you aim the glow once it is up. For entries, patios and building facades that works; for a narrow beam on a single architectural feature you want a spot-distribution fixture instead.
8) Can the WSW1116 Swivet be mounted facing up or down, or only one orientation?
Mounting is wall, any orientation, so the backplate can go up, down or sideways depending on whether you want the glow thrown toward the soffit or down the wall. Wiring is hardwired into the backplate, which also houses the driver, so you only need a standard outdoor junction box behind it.
9) Is the WAC Swivet WSW1116 Energy Star certified?
No, the WSW1116 is not Energy Star listed. It does carry CEC and Title 24 compliance, which is the approval that usually matters for California permit review, plus ETL and cETL Wet location listing. If your rebate program specifically requires an Energy Star fixture, this is not the one.
