WAC Lighting WS-W89516-27-BK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the WAC Lighting WS-W895 Beech wall light mount to a standard 4-inch junction box?
Yes. The WS-W895 is hardwired, and the universal voltage driver sits concealed in the backplate. A decorative conversion plate is included so the fixture mounts over a standard 4 inch junction box, so no separate adapter purchase is needed for a typical exterior rough-in.
2) Can the WS-W895 run on 277V commercial power, or is it 120V only?
The driver is universal voltage and accepts 120V, 240V or 277V, so the same fixture works on a residential 120V circuit or a 277V commercial lighting branch. No voltage-specific version to order.
3) Is the WAC Beech WS-W895 rated for direct rain and coastal exposure?
It carries a Wet location rating and is ETL and cETL Listed, so it can go on an unprotected exterior wall exposed to rain. The light engine is factory sealed and the aluminum body carries a weather-resistant powder-coated finish.
4) Do I have to pick a color temperature when I order the WS-W895, or can it be changed on site?
Both. Orders are placed at 2700K, 3000K, 3500K or 4000K, but the fixture has built-in 4-CCT adjustability, so the temperature can be pre-selected or switched in the field. Useful if you are matching existing sconces on a building and are not sure which CCT is already up.
5) What dimmer works with the WAC WS-W895, and will my standard incandescent dimmer run it?
Use an ELV (electronic low voltage) or TRIAC dimmer. A plain incandescent-only dimmer is not the specified control type, so spec an ELV or TRIAC model for smooth continuous dimming.
6) What sizes does the Beech WS-W895 outdoor wall light come in?
Two sizes, 16 and 24, and each is available in all four color temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K). A common approach on a facade is the 24 at the main entry and the 16 along secondary doors or a patio run.
7) Does the WS-W895 meet ADA requirements for a sconce in a corridor or egress path?
The WS-W895 is listed as ADA compliant, which is what matters when a wall-mounted fixture sits in a path of travel. It is also CEC and Title 24 compliant, which comes up on California commercial and multi-family work.
8) Do I need to buy lamps for the WS-W895, and what happens when the LED fails?
Lamps are included. The fixture uses an integrated LED module on a universal driver rather than a screw-in bulb, and the module is replaceable rather than throwaway. Rated life is 54,000 hours.
9) Is the WAC WS-W895 Energy Star certified?
No. The Beech WS-W895 is not an Energy Star listed fixture, so it will not satisfy a spec or rebate program that requires Energy Star. It is CEC and Title 24 compliant, which covers most California code requirements.
10) What kind of light does the Beech bark-textured glass actually throw on a wall?
Flood distribution through a slab of bark-textured glass, so the output is spread rather than a tight beam and the ruffled surface casts a patterned wash across the wall. CRI 90, so finishes and masonry colors read accurately at night.
11) Can the WS-W895 be mounted sideways or inverted, or only upright?
The mounting method is listed as wall and any orientation, so the fixture is not restricted to one upright position. Follow the WAC installation guide for the box and wiring details.
