Metallics JBVWG58 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Metallics JBVWG58 beveled washer used for?
It's a 5/8 inch beveled (sloped) washer, hot dip galvanized. The bevel lets a nut or bolt head seat flat against a sloped or tapered surface, which is the usual case on structural steel flanges such as channel and I-beam legs. Flat washers bind on those surfaces; the bevel takes up the slope so the fastener draws down square.
2) Is the JBVWG58 washer galvanized for outdoor or damp use?
Yes, it's hot dip galvanized (HDG), the heavier zinc coating used on exterior steel, utility work, and damp or unconditioned spaces. Pair it with galvanized bolts and nuts; mixing plain or electroplated fasteners with HDG hardware in a wet location gives you the corrosion problem back.
3) How many washers come in the Metallics JBVWG58 pack?
Ten washers, supplied in a jar. That's the pack type Metallics ships this item in, so a count of ten is one unit, not ten individual pieces ordered separately.
