Metallics JMSWS008 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the difference between a small-OD flat washer and a standard flat washer for M8 hardware?
The JMSWS008 is the small outside diameter version, which means a narrower bearing surface than a standard or fender style M8 washer. Small OD is what you want in tight spots, inside channel, or where a wide washer would foul an adjacent part. If you need to spread load over sheet metal or an oversized hole, a larger OD washer is the better call.
2) Are Metallics JMSWS008 washers zinc plated steel or stainless?
Zinc plated steel. That's a general purpose indoor and protected-location finish, typical for electrical rough-in and strut work. For wet, washdown or corrosive exposure, specify a stainless M8 washer instead.
3) Can I use these M8 flat washers with metric threaded rod for hanging electrical conduit and strut?
Yes. M8 zinc plated flat washers are a standard companion to M8 rod and nuts for hanging strut, trapeze supports and conduit hangers, and Metallics catalogues the JMSWS008 as an electrical fastener. The small OD keeps the washer within the width of narrow channel and fittings.
4) How many M8 washers come in a jar of Metallics JMSWS008?
100 washers per jar, and the jar is the pack type, so you're buying a sealed shop container rather than a loose bag. Handy for keeping M8 washers separated on a van or bench alongside other metric sizes.
5) What part number do I order for the Metallics M8 small-OD zinc flat washer?
Order Metallics JMSWS008. One model covers it, so there are no finish or size options to pick once you've landed on that number.
