Wiremold P6 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How many outlets does the Wiremold P6 power strip have, and how long is the cord?
Six outlets, on a 6 foot cord. That cord length is the deciding detail for most desk jobs: 6 feet reaches from a wall receptacle to the far side of a workstation or under a conference table without a second run. The P6 is a plug-in unit, so there's no hardwiring and no electrician needed to put it in service.
2) Will a Wiremold P6 outlet strip fit under a desk or inside a furniture raceway?
The P6 measures 12.37 in long, 2.19 in high and 1.12 in wide, so it is narrow enough to sit in a furniture channel or against the underside of a desk without the body hanging into knee space. Check the 2.19 in height against your channel opening first, since that is the largest of the three dimensions after length and is what usually stops a strip from dropping into a raceway.
3) Is the Wiremold P6 metal or plastic?
Polymeric, not steel. The housing is a white polymer, which is why the whole unit weighs 1.3 lb. For an office or classroom that is usually what you want, since it blends with furniture and mounts with light-duty fasteners. If you are running power in a shop, a corridor, or anywhere the strip takes impact, a steel-housed Wiremold outlet strip is the better call.
4) What do I order to get a 6-outlet Wiremold plug-in strip in white?
Order Wiremold part number P6. That single part number covers the 6-outlet polymeric plug-in outlet center in white with the 6 foot cord, so there is no separate finish or cord option to specify.
5) Can a property manager install a Wiremold P6 strip without an electrician?
Yes. The P6 is a plug-in outlet center, so it lands in an existing receptacle and needs no branch circuit work, no box, and no wiring permit for the strip itself. At 1.3 lb it mounts to a desk underside or panel with light fasteners. Where you do need an electrician is the receptacle it plugs into, if the wall does not already have one within 6 feet.
6) How many Wiremold P6 strips do I need for a conference table or a row of workstations?
Each P6 gives six outlets off one wall receptacle on a 6 foot cord, so figure one per work position for a typical desk (computer, monitor, dock, charger, task light) and one per two seats at a conference table. The 12.37 in body is short enough to sit between grommets rather than spanning them. Do not chain one P6 into another to extend reach; run each back to its own receptacle.
