1) Is the Hubbell 515SP plug the right one for a standard 125V household or shop outlet?
Yes. The Hubbell 515SP is a NEMA 5-15P straight blade plug rated 15 amps at 125 volts, which is the standard configuration for ordinary grounded 125V receptacles found in homes, offices and shops. It is 2-pole, 3-wire grounding, so it carries hot, neutral and equipment ground.
2) What does 'polarized' mean on this 15 amp replacement plug, and does it matter how I wire it?
Polarized means the blades are sized so the plug only enters the receptacle one way, keeping hot and neutral on the intended conductors. On the 515SP that makes wiring order matter: the black (hot) conductor goes to the brass terminal, white (neutral) to the silver terminal, and the green ground to the ground terminal. Reversing hot and neutral defeats the point of a polarized plug.
3) Will a NEMA 5-15P plug work in a 20 amp receptacle?
Yes. A 5-15P plug like the Hubbell 515SP plugs into both 5-15R and 5-20R receptacles, since the 20 amp receptacle's T-slot accepts the straight 15 amp blade. The reverse is not true, a 5-20P will not enter a 15 amp outlet.
4) Does this Hubbell plug have a ground pin, or is it a two-prong plug?
It is a grounding plug. The 515SP is 3-wire, 2-pole with a ground, so it has the round ground pin plus the two flat blades. If you are replacing an old ungrounded two-prong cord end, the cord itself must have a third ground conductor to use this plug properly.

The 515SP is supplied in black and white. That is cosmetic only, the electrical configuration is the same NEMA 5-15P 15A 125V in either case.
