Metallics QB24 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size hole does the Metallics QB24 Quik-Bit drill, and how deep can it reach?
The QB24 is a 1/2 inch flat wood boring bit with a 16 inch overall length. The 1/2 inch cutting diameter suits standard NM cable runs through studs and joists, and the 16 inch length lets you bore through doubled plates or reach between framing members without an extension.
2) Is the Metallics QB24 bit for wood only, or can it cut metal studs?
Wood only. The QB24 is a flat (spade-type) wood bit, cut for framing lumber, plates, and joists. For metal studs you want a step bit or a bi-metal hole saw instead.
3) Will a 1/2 inch Quik-Bit hole be big enough for the cable I'm pulling through studs?
A 1/2 inch bore handles common residential NM runs, and the QB24 gives you that in a 16 inch bit so you can hit multiple studs in line. If you are pulling several cables through one hole or running larger feeder, step up to a bigger diameter bit.
4) How many bits come in a Metallics QB24 pack?
One bit per pack, supplied in a pouch. If you are stocking a truck or outfitting a crew, order a QB24 per drill rather than expecting a multi-size set.
