Metallics MF100 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size pipe does the Metallics MF100 roof jack fit?
The MF100 roof jack is sized for 1 inch pipe. It is the flashing that seals where a 1 inch conduit or pipe penetrates the roof deck, so match it to the nominal size of the run coming through, not to the hole you cut.
2) Is the Metallics MF100 roof jack one piece or does it come apart?
Two-piece construction. The base flashing sets on the roof and the separate collar/cap drops over the pipe, which means you can install the base under the roofing course and then slide the top piece down over the conduit instead of threading a single fixed boot over the whole run.
3) What is the Metallics MF100 roof jack made of, and will it hold up outdoors?
It is 26 gauge galvanized steel. The zinc coating is what carries it on an exposed roof penetration; 26 gauge is a light sheet gauge, so handle the flange carefully during install and keep fasteners through the flat of the base rather than the formed collar.
4) Do I need anything besides the roof jack to seal a 1 inch conduit through the roof?
The MF100 ships as the two-piece galvanized flashing only. Plan on your own roofing fasteners and sealant or mastic at the flange and at the top collar, plus whatever the roofing system calls for where the base laps under the shingle or panel course.
