Metallics MFHA100 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size pipe does the Metallics MFHA100 roof jack fit?
The MFHA100 is a 1 inch roof jack, so it is sized to flash a 1 inch penetration through the roof deck. For a larger conduit or vent run you need the matching larger size of jack, not this one.
2) Why is the Metallics MFHA100 roof jack a two-piece design instead of one piece?
Two-piece construction means the base flashing and the cap or collar are separate parts. The installer sets the base over the penetration and under the roofing course, runs the pipe or conduit through, then drops the second piece over the top to shed water at the penetration. It lets you flash a run that is already in place rather than threading the pipe through a single fixed flashing.
3) Is the MFHA100 roof jack galvanized, and what gauge steel is it?
It is 26 gauge galvanized steel. The zinc coating is what lets it sit exposed on a roof, and 26 gauge is a light sheet metal gauge, so handle it carefully on the roof and fasten it per the roofing detail rather than relying on the metal for stiffness.
