1) Will a 10-24 machine screw thread into my existing device box or fixture strap?
The Metallics JFM150 is a 10-24 UNC screw, 24 threads per inch, cut to ANSI/ASME B1.1. That is the standard thread used on electrical device boxes, fixture straps and plaster rings, so it mates with any 10-24 tapped hole or 10-24 nut. If the hole in your box or strap is 8-32 (the other common electrical thread), this screw will not start.
2) Will the flat head sit flush, and how big a countersink does it need?
Flat head, so it seats into a countersunk hole and finishes flush with the surface. Head width runs 0.333 to 0.362 in. and head height 0.098 to 0.116 in., dimensioned to ASME B18.6.3-1998, so an 82 degree countersink sized for a #10 flat head takes it. On an uncountersunk flat plate the head will stand proud by roughly a tenth of an inch.
3) Does the Metallics JFM150 meet Buy American or ARRA requirements for a government job?
