Metallics SPN1214 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size cable does the Metallics SPN1214 clamp hold?
The SPN1214 is a 1/2 inch neoprene-wrapped cable clamp, so it is sized to secure 1/2 inch cable or conduit runs. Order it by the model number SPN1214.
2) Why use a neoprene-lined cable clamp instead of a bare steel strap?
The neoprene wrap on the SPN1214 cushions the cable where the clamp bears on it, which keeps the jacket from being cut or chafed by a steel edge and damps vibration on the run. A bare steel strap costs less but bites directly into the cable, so lined clamps are the usual choice for jacketed cable and for runs that move or vibrate.
3) Is the Metallics SPN1214 a one-piece clamp or does it need a separate strap?
It is a single steel cable clamp with the neoprene wrap built in, supplied as one piece per the SPN1214 model. Mounting hardware such as the screw or bolt into your structure is a separate item.
