It takes a 3/8 inch hex socket or nut setter. The indented hex head measures 0.367 to 0.375 in. across the flats, 0.409 in. across corners, with a head height of 0.172 to 0.19 in. Hex drive only, there's no slot or Phillips recess to strip.

The washer is part of the screw, an integral washer head. Its outside diameter runs 0.480 to 0.520 in. and thickness 0.030 to 0.050 in., which gives you more bearing surface than a plain hex head when you're clamping sheet metal or strap without adding a loose part to the job.
