Red Dot BC-6 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Red Dot BC-6 conduit body work with 2 inch EMT?
Yes. The BC-6 is a 2 inch C-style conduit body built for EMT, so it mates with 2 inch electrical metallic tubing. It is not a threaded rigid/IMC fitting, so don't plan on threading rigid conduit into it.
2) What is a C conduit body used for in an EMT run?
A C body is a straight-through pull fitting. It gives you an opening in the middle of a run so you can pull or feed conductors without breaking the raceway, which is what you want on long 2 inch EMT runs or where you need a pull point. If you need to change direction instead, you want an L body (LB, LL, LR) rather than the BC-6 C body.
3) Is the Red Dot BC-6 conduit body metal or plastic?
Die cast aluminum. That makes it suitable for exposed EMT work where a non-ferrous metal body is wanted, and it keeps weight down on larger 2 inch fittings compared with malleable iron.
4) Does the Red Dot BC-6 come with a cover and gasket?
The BC-6 is ordered as the conduit body itself, model BC-6. Covers and gaskets for Series B bodies are separate items, so add the matching size 6 cover and gasket to the order if your install needs them.
5) What is the exact part number to order for a 2 inch Red Dot EMT C body?
Order Red Dot BC-6. It is the 2 inch C-style body in the Series B EMT line, and BC-6 is the manufacturer part number distributors and counters will look up.
