Watts 0830928 3/4 In Iron Process Steam Pressure Regulator, Reduced Pressure Range 30 To 140 psi

Both ends of the Watts 152A are 3/4 inch female NPT threaded, inlet and outlet. So it threads straight onto 3/4 inch NPT male nipples or close nipples off your line. No flanges, no unions supplied, and no adapters needed if you are already on 3/4 inch NPT. If your line is a different size, reduce to 3/4 inch NPT male at both the inlet and the outlet.

Reduced (downstream) pressure adjusts anywhere from 30 to 140 psi. If your process needs low-pressure steam below 30 psi, this is the wrong range and you want a lower-range regulator instead. Inlet side is rated to 200 psi maximum working pressure (14 bar).

No on both counts. The 0830928 ships with no gauge and no integral strainer, so you need to pipe a gauge in the downstream line to set and verify the reduced pressure, and install a separate Y-strainer ahead of the regulator to protect the seat. There is also no thermal expansion bypass in this valve.

It is built as a process steam pressure regulator for commercial and industrial service, with an iron body and stainless steel trim and disc. Iron-body process regulators are not the right choice for potable water distribution, where a bronze or lead-free water pressure reducing valve is specified instead. Use the 152A for steam and industrial process duty.

The body is cast iron with no corrosion resistant coating. Internal wetted trim and the disc are stainless steel, so the sealing parts hold up, but the exterior is bare iron and will surface rust in a damp or outdoor location. If the install is exposed, plan on painting or insulating the body.

Minimum service temperature is 33 degrees F (0.5 C), so it cannot be used where the media or ambient drops to freezing. On a steam line that is rarely an issue in operation, but an unheated space during a shutdown is a real freeze and cracked-body risk for an iron valve.
