Progress Lighting P2606-09 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Progress Lighting P2606-09 downrod fit a non-Progress ceiling fan?
The P2606-09 is specified for use with any Progress Lighting ceiling fan. It is a 3/4 inch diameter rod, which is the common downrod size, but the only fit Progress states is to their own fans. If you are hanging another brand's fan, source that manufacturer's matching downrod rather than assuming the coupling, pin hole and set screw locations line up.
2) How much fan weight will a 36-inch AirPro downrod carry?
Rated to 35 lb maximum load. Most residential and light commercial fans fall under that, but check the fan's shipping-less weight before you hang a large-diameter commercial fan on it. The rod itself is steel with a plated Brushed Nickel finish and weighs 3.4 lb.
3) Does the P2606-09 downrod come with a canopy, outlet box mount, or wiring?
No. The rod ships as the rod only, 0.75 x 0.75 x 36 inches. No outlet box mounting hardware is included, it is not prewired, and it has no quick install canopy or quick link connector. You reuse the canopy, hanger ball and mounting bracket from the fan kit, and you pull the fan's existing lead wires through the rod.
4) Can I use this downrod on a covered patio or breezeway?
Yes, the 36-inch AirPro downrod is listed for indoor and outdoor use, and the plated Brushed Nickel coating gives it corrosion resistance for covered exterior locations. The fan itself still has to be a damp or wet location rated model; the rod does not change the fan's rating.
5) Is grounding handled through the downrod itself?
The rod is pre-drilled for the grounding and set screw hardware so the fan's ground path carries through the steel rod to the canopy and box. Follow the fan's instructions for which hole takes the ground screw and which takes the cross pin.
6) Can this downrod be flipped to mount the fan flush instead?
No. It is a fixed-length 36-inch extension rod and is not reversible for an up or down mount. For a low ceiling where you need the fan tight to the deck, use the fan's flush or close-to-ceiling mount option instead of a rod.
7) Will a Brushed Nickel downrod match the other fans in my building?
The P2606-09 is finished in Brushed Nickel, a plated grey-nickel tone. It is the AirPro Fan Downrod collection, so it matches Progress AirPro fans specified in Brushed Nickel. If your existing fans are a different Progress finish, order the same 36-inch rod in that finish code rather than mixing.
8) Is a Proposition 65 warning required for this Progress Lighting downrod?
Yes. The 36-inch AirPro downrod carries a Proposition 65 warning requirement, which matters if you are shipping to a California jobsite or filing submittals there. Country of origin is China.
9) Can I buy a single AirPro downrod or do they come in a case?
Single units. The order multiple is 1 each. If you are standardizing drop heights across a building, the factory carton holds 5 pieces at 12.91 lb per master pack, which is the efficient way to buy for a multi-unit fan install.
How fast can I get the Progress Lighting P2606-09 delivered?
