Progress Lighting P2608-09 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Progress Lighting AirPro P2608-09 downrod fit any brand of ceiling fan?
It is specified for use with any Progress Lighting ceiling fan. The rod is 3/4 inch diameter, which is the size Progress AirPro canopies and fan couplers are built around. If you are hanging another manufacturer's fan, match the downrod to that fan's own coupler system rather than assuming the 3/4 inch rod will seat and pin correctly.
2) How much fan weight will a 60 inch AirPro downrod carry?
Rated to 35 lb maximum load. That covers the fan motor assembly plus a light kit as long as the combined weight stays under the limit. The rod itself weighs 5 lb, which is additional load on the outlet box, so the box has to be a fan-rated box regardless.
3) Does the AirPro downrod come with the mounting bracket or outlet box hardware?
No. The rod ships on its own, with no outlet box mounting hardware included. You reuse the canopy, hanger ball or bracket, and pin and clevis that came with the fan, and the ceiling box must be separately supplied and fan rated. There is no quick-install canopy and no quick-link connector on this rod.
4) Can this downrod be used on a covered porch or patio fan?
Yes, it is rated for indoor and outdoor use, with a plated finish on steel for corrosion resistance. Outdoor means covered locations such as porches and breezeways, not direct exposure, and the fan itself must also be a damp or wet rated model.
5) Is the wiring already run through this ceiling fan downrod?
The P2608-09 is not prewired. You pull the fan's existing lead wires up through the hollow 3/4 inch rod yourself during install. It does come with pre-drilled grounding holes so the equipment ground can be bonded properly.
6) Does this ceiling fan downrod carry a Proposition 65 warning?
Yes, a Proposition 65 warning is required for the P2608-09 downrod. It is not Buy American or ARRA compliant, and country of origin is China, which matters on publicly funded work with domestic sourcing requirements.
7) Will a brushed nickel downrod match the other fans already installed in my building?
The finish is Brushed Nickel on plated steel, the standard AirPro nickel tone, so it matches Progress AirPro fans ordered in brushed nickel. If the existing fans are a different finish, order the rod in that finish instead, since a mismatched rod is the most visible part of the assembly from the floor.
8) How are AirPro downrods packed if I am buying for a multi-unit job?
Sold each, with an order multiple of 1 EA, so you can buy a single rod or any quantity. Master pack is 5 each per carton at 21.48 lb, and the carton runs 61.18 inches long, worth knowing for freight and storage on a bulk order.
