Metallics MWRC38 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How do I install a wire rope clip like the Metallics MWRC38 the right way?
The saddle of the clip goes on the live, load-carrying side of the rope and the U-bolt on the dead end, which is the old rule of never saddling a dead horse. Clips are used in multiples spaced along the dead end, not one on its own, and the nuts are torqued evenly. The MWRC38 is the 3/8 inch size, so it is used with 3/8 inch rope and matching clips of the same size on the same termination.
2) Is the Metallics 3/8 wire rope clip galvanized for damp or outdoor use?
Yes, the MWRC38 is galvanized, which is the usual finish for cable bracing and support runs exposed to damp or outdoor conditions. For corrosive or wash-down environments, stainless is the material to specify instead.
