The fitting itself measures 5.433 inches long, 5.118 inches wide and 2.437 inches high, and weighs 1.51 lbs. Lay that out against your joist bay or wall cavity before you commit, because the press ring and jaw need room beyond the fitting body to close square on the socket. The street end helps here, since it eliminates one coupling and one press joint compared with joining two socket-end fittings.

Smart Connect is the feature Viega builds into the press socket so an unpressed joint leaks visibly during pressure test rather than holding and failing later. On a large commercial run with dozens of joints, that is how you find the one your installer missed before the ceiling closes.
