Viega 95250 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What connections does the Viega 95250 MegaPress adapter have?
It's a press-by-thread adapter: one 1-1/2 inch MegaPress press end and one 1-1/2 inch male pipe thread (MPT). That makes it the transition piece when you need to come off a pressed iron pipe run into a threaded female fitting, valve, or union.
2) Will the Viega 95250 thread into a standard 1-1/2 inch female NPT fitting?
Yes. The threaded end is 1-1/2 inch male pipe thread, so it mates with any 1-1/2 inch FNPT port, including threaded valves, strainers, and unions. Tape or dope the thread as you would any NPT joint; only the press end uses the sealing element.
3) Is the Viega 95250 adapter stainless or carbon steel?
304 stainless steel body. If your system is black iron carbon steel pipe, note the difference in material before mixing it in; the stainless version is normally specified where corrosion resistance matters, and Viega builds it in Germany.
4) What is Smart Connect on this Viega MegaPress fitting?
Smart Connect is Viega's unpressed-connection feature. Before the joint is pressed, the sealing element lets a small amount of fluid pass during testing, so an installer can identify a connection that was missed on a long run rather than finding it after the wall closes. The 95250 adapter is built with it.
