1) Is the American Standard 62000 shroud ADA compliant?
Yes. The acrylic shroud is stated as ADA compliant, which is why it is specified on Murro and Decorum wall-hung lavatories in accessible restrooms where exposed piping under the bowl has to be guarded.
2) What does a knee contact guard on a wall-hung lavatory actually do?
It closes off the underside of the bowl. The acrylic shroud conceals the supply lines, the p-trap, and the faucet control box so a user in a wheelchair does not come into contact with hot or sharp piping under the sink. That is the same reason it is called a knee contact guard.
3) Will the 62000 shroud work on any wall-hung sink I already have on the wall?
No. It is shaped for the Murro and 9134 Decorum bowls and will not adapt to another manufacturer's wall-hung lavatory or to other American Standard bowl shapes. If your existing sink is something else, you need the shroud or ADA guard made for that specific bowl.
4) Does the 62000 shroud come with mounting hardware or do I need to buy it separately?
Mounting hardware is included with the shroud. Nothing extra to source for the shroud itself, though you still supply the sink, faucet, trap, and stops.
5) Can maintenance get the shroud off to service the p-trap?
