American Standard 9024004EC.020 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the American Standard Decorum wall-hung sink need a carrier or can it hang off the wall alone?
The Decorum wall-hung sink mounts either on a concealed arm carrier or on wall support, and the carrier is supplied by others. Budget for the carrier or blocking separately, because it does not come with the sink. Get the carrier set at the right rough-in height before the wall is closed up.
2) Is this American Standard Decorum sink ADA compliant for a public restroom?
The Decorum wall-hung sink is stated ADA and TAS compliant, TAS being the Texas Accessibility Standards. Compliance still depends on your install: mounting height, knee clearance and insulated or offset supply and waste piping are all part of meeting the standard on the finished opening.
3) What does EverClean actually do on this sink, and does it wear off?
EverClean is an antimicrobial treatment fired into the surface that inhibits growth of the bacteria, mold and mildew that cause stains and odors. It is part of the glazed china surface, not a coating you apply. Worth noting it does not make the sink self-cleaning or protect the user, it keeps the basin surface from harboring odor-causing growth between cleanings, which matters in high-traffic restrooms.
4) Does this wall-hung sink have an overflow?
Yes, a rear overflow. That means you can use a standard lavatory pop-up or grid drain with overflow ports. If your spec calls for a no-overflow basin, this is not the one.
5) Is the Decorum EverClean sink suitable for a commercial restroom or is it a residential lavatory?
It is a commercial wall-hung lavatory. Wall-hung with a concealed arm carrier, 4 inch centerset drilling, ADA and TAS compliance and the EverClean surface are the combination specified for public and institutional restrooms, schools, healthcare and multi-family common areas rather than a residential vanity install.
6) Will water pool around the faucet deck on the Decorum sink?
The deck is recessed and self-draining, so standing water on the faucet ledge runs back into the bowl instead of sitting there. For a property manager maintaining a fleet of restrooms, that is the detail that cuts down on mineral rings and daily wipe-downs at the deck.
7) What material and finish does the Decorum wall-hung sink come in?
Vitreous china, offered in white. The order part number is 9024004EC.020, the .020 suffix being American Standard's white.
