American Standard 215AA769.020 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the American Standard Cadet touchless toilet come with a seat?
No seat is included with the Cadet Touchless chair height elongated toilet, model 215AA769.020. It ships less seat, so you need to order an elongated seat separately to finish the install. Plan on an elongated seat, not a round one, since the bowl is elongated.
2) Does the touchless flush need to be wired or plugged in?
No electrical rough-in is needed. The Cadet Touchless runs on batteries, 3 AAA in the sensor and 4 AA in the control module, and they are included. American Standard rates that at about one year based on an average of 12 flushes a day, so budget a battery change into your PM schedule rather than an electrician.
3) What happens if the batteries die in the touchless toilet?
It still flushes. There is a manual actuator button on the toilet, push and hold it about two seconds and it flushes normally. That is the backup for a dead battery, which matters in a rental or a facility where nobody notices the sensor is out until a tenant calls.
4) What is the locking device on this Cadet toilet for?
It is a vandal-proof lock on the tank cover and on the touchless sensor. That keeps the tank cover from being lifted and the sensor from being pulled off, which is why property managers spec this version for common-area and high-traffic restrooms over a standard tank toilet.
5) Is chair height the same as comfort height, and who is it for?
Chair height means the bowl sits taller than a standard toilet, closer to a dining chair seat, so users sit down and stand up with less effort. Combined with the elongated bowl, that is what makes this the common pick for senior housing, accessible units, and any unit where tenants have mobility issues.
6) Is this American Standard Cadet touchless toilet meant for residential or commercial use?
American Standard classes it as a residential toilet. The vandal-resistant lock and touchless flush make it a frequent choice in multi-family and light common-area applications, but if you are specifying for a high-volume institutional restroom, a flushometer bowl is the normal route.
7) How much water does the Cadet touchless toilet use per flush?
It is an ultra-low consumption fixture, using 20 percent less water than a regular toilet per American Standard. The surface also carries EverClean, which inhibits growth of stain and odor causing bacteria, mold and mildew on the china, useful where cleaning intervals are stretched.
8) What color does the Cadet touchless toilet come in?
White only, ordered as 215AA769.020. The .020 suffix is American Standard's white code, so if you are matching other fixtures in a building this is the one finish available on this model.
