American Standard Cadet Touchless Chair Height Elongated Skirted Toilet with Seat and Locking Device - AMS-2989769

Yes. There is a manual actuator button: push and hold it for about two seconds and the toilet flushes without sensor power. The sensor runs on 3 AAA batteries and the control module on 4 AA batteries, all included, with about one year of life at an average of 12 flushes per day. For a property manager, that means a dead battery is a service call, not an out-of-order restroom.

It is built with that in mind. A vandal-proof locking device secures both the tank cover and the touchless sensor, so neither can be lifted or walked off. The touchless operation also removes the handle as a point of contact and abuse. Combined with the skirted, smooth-sided body, it is a reasonable fit for hospitality, healthcare, education and multi-family common restrooms.

Chair height puts the bowl rim closer to a standard chair seat than a traditional toilet, so users sit down and stand up with less drop and less lift. Paired with the elongated bowl, it is the configuration most often specified for senior housing, assisted living and accessible-minded unit upgrades.

The skirt conceals the trapway, so the bowl does not bolt down the same way an exposed-trapway toilet does; skirted bowls anchor to a mounting bracket or plate set at the flange rather than through visible holes in the base. Plan for that step on the rough-in. The payoff is cleaning: no trapway contours to wipe around, which is why maintenance crews favor them in high-turnover restrooms.

The seat is included. It is a slow-close, quick-release seat, so it will not slam, and it lifts off without tools for cleaning around the hinges. No separate seat order is needed to complete the job.

The Cadet Touchless is an ultra-low consumption fixture that uses 20 percent less water than a regular toilet. For a portfolio doing a large-scale fixture swap, that consumption difference is the line item that usually justifies the retrofit.

EverClean is a surface treatment on the china that inhibits growth of stain- and odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew. It reduces how fast the bowl discolors between cleanings, but it is not a substitute for a cleaning schedule.

White only, ordered under American Standard part number 2989769.02. If you are standardizing fixtures across a building, that single finish keeps the spec simple across every unit.
