American Standard 1660711.002 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the American Standard FloWise 1660711 showerhead come with a shower arm and flange?
Showerhead only. The FloWise 1660711 is sold as the head by itself, so you reuse the existing shower arm and escutcheon or order those separately. For a straight head swap on an existing arm that is all you need, but if you are roughing in a new shower or replacing a corroded arm, plan on the arm and flange as a separate line.
2) How much water does switching to the FloWise 1.5 gpm head actually save per unit?
American Standard puts the saving at up to 8,000 gallons a year for a family, based on the 1.5 gpm / 5.7 L/min flow. Across a building that is the number to run against your water and sewer rate when you are pricing a fixture retrofit, and it is the figure to cite if you are chasing a utility rebate that requires a sub-2.0 gpm head.
3) Will the FloWise showerhead stay where I aim it, or does it drift under water pressure?
It locks in place with a set screw rather than relying on ball-joint friction alone. That matters in rentals and dorms where heads get grabbed and swung: once the angle is set and the screw is tightened, the spray direction holds. It also means the head is not meant to be re-aimed by hand on a whim, so set the angle at install.
4) What finish and part number do I order for the American Standard FloWise fixed showerhead?
Chrome, ordered as American Standard part 1660711.002. Chrome is the only finish this FloWise fixed head is built in, so if you are matching brushed nickel or matte black trim elsewhere in the bath you will need a different American Standard model. For a fleet of units where the valve trim is already chrome, this drops straight in.
5) Is this a fixed showerhead or a handheld on a hose?
Fixed. The FloWise 1660711 mounts rigid to the shower arm and does not include a hose, slide bar, or cradle. If the job calls for ADA-oriented handheld capability or a tub-and-shower combo where someone needs to direct the spray, this is not the part for it, and you would be looking at a handshower kit instead.
