American Standard 1660813.002 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the American Standard FloWise Square showerhead include a shower arm and flange?
No. The FloWise Square 1660813 is the showerhead only, so you're reusing the existing shower arm and flange or buying them separately. It threads onto a standard shower arm and the ball joint lets you angle the spray face where you want it.
2) What flow rate does the FloWise Square showerhead actually deliver on each spray setting?
Three settings, and they don't all run the same. Turbine spray tops out at 1.5 gpm, full spray at 2.0 gpm, and combination spray at 2.0 gpm. After use it auto-returns to the 1.5 gpm turbine setting, so the default state is the lowest-flow one. American Standard rates the head at 2.0 gpm / 7.6 L/min overall with up to 40 percent water savings.
3) Will this showerhead meet a 2.0 gpm water conservation requirement for a hotel or multifamily retrofit?
The FloWise Square is rated at 2.0 gpm / 7.6 L/min max, and the auto-return feature drops it back to 1.5 gpm after each use rather than leaving it on the high setting. For a property manager standardizing bathrooms, that's the useful part: the guest can open it up to full spray, but the fixture resets itself to the conserving setting. Flow is held steady by a pressure compensating flow control device, so the rate doesn't climb on high-pressure risers.
4) Can I swap a standard round showerhead for this without changing the shower arm?
Yes. The FloWise Square is a fixed wall-mount head that threads onto the shower arm already in the wall, so it's a direct swap on a standard 1/2 inch arm with no valve or in-wall work. Only the look changes, square face instead of round, plus the three-setting spray.
5) Will the spray weaken on upper floors where water pressure is low?
The FloWise Square uses a pressure compensating flow control device, which is there to hold flow consistent as supply pressure varies rather than letting it surge at the bottom of a stack and fall off at the top. On a low-pressure line the turbine setting, at 1.5 gpm, concentrates the flow more than the full spray does.
6) What finish does the American Standard 1660813 FloWise Square showerhead come in?
Chrome, ordered as 1660813.002. That's the only finish this square FloWise head is built in, so if the rest of the trim in the bath is brushed nickel or matte black it won't match.
7) Is this a handheld or a fixed showerhead?
Fixed. The FloWise Square mounts on the shower arm and stays there; the head pivots to aim the spray but does not come off on a hose. If you need a hand shower for a tub or an accessible stall, this isn't the part.
