American Standard 2854016.02 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the American Standard Madera 2854016 come with a flush valve, or do I have to order one separately?
The Madera 2854016 ships as a complete toilet system: the elongated floor mount flushometer bowl plus a manual piston-operated flush valve rated 1.6 gpf/6.0 Lpf. The seat is not included (the bowl is supplied less seat), so budget a commercial elongated open-front seat for the job.
2) Is the Madera 2854016 a tank toilet or does it need a flushometer supply line?
It is a flushometer bowl, not a tank type. There is no tank and no fill valve, so it needs a pressurized supply sized for flushometer service. The spud is on the top of the bowl, which is what the supplied manual piston valve mounts to.
3) Is the Madera chair height toilet tall enough for an ADA restroom?
The rim sits at 16-1/2 inches (419 mm), which American Standard lists as an accessible application height. Add a seat and you land in the range typically specified for accessible water closets. Confirm the seated height with the seat you choose.
4) How well does the Madera clear waste? What is its MaP score?
It carries a maximum 1,000 gram MaP score at 1.6 gpf, the top of the MaP test scale. For facility maintenance staff dealing with repeat clogs on older fixtures, that is the number to compare against.
5) We keep getting flushometers that run on. Does this one address that?
That is what the DynaClean wiper spring is for. An integral wiper spring cleans the refill orifice on every flush, which is the orifice that fouls and causes valve run-on. The handle is also non-hold open, so it shuts off automatically and a user cannot hold it to waste water.
6) Is the Madera 2854016 bowl round or elongated?
Elongated. If you are replacing a round front bowl, check your stall depth and the clear floor space in front of the fixture, since an elongated bowl projects further into the compartment. It also means you need an elongated seat, not a round one.
7) What is EverClean on an American Standard toilet, and does it wear off?
EverClean is a permanent surface treatment fired into the china that inhibits growth of stain and odor causing bacteria, mold and mildew on the surface. It is not a coating you reapply. It reduces staining, but it does not replace normal cleaning or disinfecting.
8) Will this toilet sweat in a humid restroom?
The bowl includes a condensation channel, which catches and manages condensate on the china rather than letting it drip to the floor. That is a common spec item in humid or heavily used restrooms where slip hazards and floor damage are a concern.
9) What color and part number do I order for the Madera chair height flushometer toilet?
It is sold in white, manufacturer part number 2854016.02. White is the only finish offered on this model.
