American Standard AM00770422.006 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size shower opening does the American Standard Prestige framed sliding shower door fit?
The Prestige framed slider is built for openings from 46 to 48 inches (1168 to 1219 mm). If your alcove measures under 46 inches or over 48, this one won't work and you need a different width door. Measure the finished opening at the top, middle, and bottom of the curb, since out-of-square walls are common in older bathrooms.
2) Can the Prestige shower door be installed if my shower walls are not perfectly plumb?
Yes. The Prestige framed slider includes a simple out-of-square adjustment in the wall jambs, so a small amount of lean or bow in the walls can be taken up during installation. That matters in renovation work and older multi-family units where the studs and tile rarely come out dead plumb.
3) Is the glass on this American Standard shower door tempered safety glass?
Yes, the Prestige sliding door uses safety tempered glass. That is the standard requirement for bathing enclosure glazing, and it breaks into small blunt pieces rather than shards if it ever fails.
4) Do I need to buy separate towel bars for this shower door?
No. The Prestige slider comes with two bracketed towel bars mounted to the door panels, so there is nothing extra to order for that. Worth noting on a spec list if you were planning to buy wall-mounted bars for the same bathroom.
