Blanco 222472 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Blanco 222472 sink grid fit any Blanco kitchen sink?
No. The 222472 grid is custom-fitted to the BLANCO PERFORMA CASCADE kitchen sink only. Blanco grids are cut to the specific basin footprint and radius of the model they are made for, so a grid sized for a different Blanco series will not seat correctly. If your sink is another Blanco model, order the grid built for that model instead.
2) Does the Blanco 222472 grid have a cutout for the drain?
It does. The grid has a rear drain opening, which keeps the strainer and disposal flange accessible without lifting the grid out. That also tells you the grid is oriented, so it goes in one way around in a rear-drain Performa Cascade basin.
3) Will a stainless bottom grid scratch the sink it is sitting in?
The 222472 is built to prevent that. It has non-skid protective feet underneath and bumpers on the sides, so the stainless frame never rides directly on the basin surface or the sink walls. The feet also lift the grid clear of the bottom so water drains underneath instead of pooling.
4) What is a bottom sink grid actually for, and do I need one if I already use a colander or cutting board?
Different jobs. The 222472 is a bottom grid, sitting on the basin floor to take the impact of pots, dishes and utensils and to keep the sink surface from getting scuffed. Floating grids, colanders and cutting boards work at or above the rim for prep and draining. They stack with a bottom grid rather than replace it, and Blanco builds them as part of the same accessory range.
5) What part number do I order for the Blanco Performa Cascade bottom grid?
Order Blanco 222472. That is the manufacturer part number for the stainless steel bottom grid matched to the Performa Cascade sink, and it ships in the stainless steel finish only, so there is no finish to specify.
6) Can I use the 222472 grid as a drying rack in the sink?
Yes, that is a secondary use Blanco designs it for. Because the grid stands off the basin floor on feet, glassware, utensils and plates set on it drain down and out instead of sitting in water, so it works as an in-sink drying rack when you are not washing.
