Blanco 231640 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Blanco 231640 grid fit any Blanco kitchen sink, or only certain models?
The 231640 grid is custom-fitted to the Blanco PRECIS CASCADE kitchen sink only. Blanco grids are cut to each sink model's basin shape and drain location, so a grid made for a different Blanco series will not sit correctly. If your sink is not a Precis Cascade, order the grid matched to that specific sink model.
2) Does this Blanco sink grid have a cutout for the drain?
There's a rear drain opening in the grid, so the drain stays accessible with the grid in place and water passes underneath rather than pooling. That rear position matches the Precis Cascade's drain layout, which is another reason the grid is not interchangeable across sink models.
3) Will a stainless steel grid scratch the bottom of my sink?
No. The 231640 grid sits on non-skid protective feet and has side bumpers, so the stainless frame does not rest metal-to-metal against the basin and does not slide around when you set a pan down. The grid itself is what takes the abuse from cookware, dishes and utensils.
4) What's the exact part number to order for a Blanco Precis Cascade bottom grid?
Blanco part number 231640, in stainless steel. That's the single configuration for this grid, so there's no size or finish choice to specify on the order.
5) Is this Blanco grid stainless steel and will it rust in a granite composite sink?
It's made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, which is what you want sitting in standing water in a composite sink basin. It's also dishwasher safe, so you can run it through a cycle when it needs cleaning instead of scrubbing it in place.
6) Can I use a bottom grid like this as a drying rack, or do I need a separate floating grid?
The 231640 is a bottom grid: it sits on the floor of the basin and also works as an in-sink drying rack for glassware, utensils and plates. If you want a rack that sits up at the rim level over the basin, that's a floating grid, which is a separate Blanco accessory along with colanders and cutting boards.
