Blanco 221014 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Blanco 221014 sink grid fit a Blanco Precis 21 inch sink?
That is the exact sink it is cut for. The 221014 is a custom-fitted bottom grid for Blanco Precis 21 inch kitchen sinks, so the perimeter and the drain cutout line up with that bowl. It is not a universal grid, so it won't sit correctly in other Precis sizes or in other bowl shapes.
2) Is the drain opening on this Blanco grid at the rear or the center?
Rear. The 221014 grid has a rear drain opening, which matches the rear drain placement of the Precis 21 inch bowl and keeps the strainer accessible without lifting the grid out. If your sink drains from the center, this is the wrong grid.
3) Will a stainless grid scratch a Blanco composite sink?
The grid is built to prevent that rather than cause it. It rests on non-skid protective feet with side bumpers, so the stainless frame does not bear directly on the basin surface or the walls, and it takes the impact from pots and cast iron instead of the sink.
4) Is this a bottom grid or a floating grid that sits on the sink rim?
Bottom grid. The 221014 is a basin rack designed to sit on the floor of the bowl on its own feet. A floating grid is the other type, sitting up at the rim to give you a work surface over the basin. If you want both functions, they are separate Blanco accessories and can be used together.
5) Does a sink grid interfere with draining or trap water underneath?
No. The 221014 sits on feet on the basin floor and water drains underneath it, so you can rinse and wash over the grid without it holding water. Because it lifts cookware off the bottom, it also works as an in-sink drying rack for glassware, plates and utensils.
6) Can this Blanco sink grid go in the dishwasher?
Yes, the 221014 grid is dishwasher safe, which is the practical answer for a rental turnover or a property manager who wants it cleaned without hand scrubbing. It is stainless steel and corrosion resistant, so repeated wash cycles won't rust it.
7) What finish does the Blanco 221014 grid come in, and will it clash with a colored Precis sink?
It is offered in one finish only, stainless steel. On a colored Precis bowl the grid sits below the rim on the basin floor, so it reads as functional hardware rather than a visible trim piece. If you want a matched look on top, Blanco also makes floating grids, colanders and cutting boards in the same accessory range.
