SCHLAGE GF3000 SERIES OVERVIEW

The GF3000 Series electromagnetic shear locks are available in mortise mount or low profile surface mount options. Both feature superior hold force with advanced microprocessor controlled electronic features including auto sensed voltage, auto relocking, adjustable relock time delay and options for integrating into an access control system.

The mortise shear lock offers the advantage of a totally concealed locking mechanism, providing superior security and appearance while allowing for normal door movement. The patented design incorporates locking tabs on the magnet assembly with mating grooves in the armature plate. The surface mounted model provides powerful hold force in a low profile design.

All Schlage electromagnetic locks come with a limited lifetime warranty on the magnetic coil assembly for added confidence in the longevity of these robust products.

1) Will a Schlage GF3000TRD shear lock work if I can't get to the air gap adjustment after the door is hung?
That's exactly what the TRD is for. The GF3000TRD is the mortise mounted version built for top of door or top rail installs where the air gap adjustment is not accessible once the door is hung. If you can still reach the adjustment after hanging, the standard GF3000 covers the same top of door or top rail application. For the bottom of the door or bottom rail, use the GF3000BRD instead.
2) Should I use a concealed mortise shear lock or a surface mounted maglock on a glass storefront door?
A mortise shear lock like the GF3000TRD hides the locking mechanism completely inside the door and frame, so nothing shows on the opening and the door swings normally. That's the reason to pick it: security plus appearance. The tradeoff is that the door and frame have to be prepped for a mortise, which usually means specifying it before the doors are built. If the opening is already hung and you can't cut a mortise, the surface mounted GF3000SM (outswinging) or GF3000TJ (inswinging) gives the same 3000 lb hold force in a low profile housing you can mount on the face of the frame.
3) Does the Schlage GF3000TRD unlock in a fire alarm or power failure?
Fail-safe, so the lock releases the moment power is removed. That is the required behavior for an electromagnetic lock on an egress door tied into a fire alarm or access control release. Plan the wiring so the alarm and the release device both drop power to the lock. If your application needs the door to stay locked without power, a shear lock is the wrong device type.
4) What power supply do I need for a Schlage GF3000 shear lock, and can I run it on my existing 12 volt supply?
