TOTO TBG08001U#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the TOTO GC wall tub spout come with a valve, or do I need to order one separately?
Spout only. The GC (Global Collection) wall tub spout ships without a valve and without a drain, so you'll need a separate rough-in valve body and trim, plus a tub drain and overflow, to finish the job. Budget for all three lines on the order.
2) What size pipe does this TOTO tub spout connect to?
It threads onto a 1/2 inch NPT nipple, so standard 1/2 inch threaded iron pipe off the valve drop. No slip-fit or set screw involved, which means the drop nipple has to be cut to the right length and oriented so the spout sits plumb against the finished wall.
3) Is this a diverter tub spout for a tub and shower combo?
No. It is a plain wall mounted tub filler spout with laminar flow, no pull up diverter in the body. For a tub and shower, the diverting has to happen at the valve, so specify a tub and shower valve with an integral diverter rather than relying on the spout.
4) How far does the TOTO GC wall tub spout stick out from the wall?
Reach is 8-1/4 inches, with overall dimensions of 8.6875 long, 2.1 wide, 3.125 high inches. That reach matters on a drop-in or freestanding tub set off the wall, check the spout will clear the tub rim and land water inside the bath, not on the deck.
5) What finishes is the TOTO GC wall tub spout available in?
Three: Polished Chrome (TBG08001U#CP), Brushed Nickel (TBG08001U#BN), and Polished Nickel (TBG08001U#PN). The finish suffix after the # is how you match it to the rest of the Global Collection trim in the same bath, so specify it on every line of the order.
6) Is a wall mounted tub spout better than a deck mounted one for a remodel?
Wall mounting puts nothing on the tub rim, so there is no deck penetration to drill or seal and the ledge wipes clean in one pass. That is the usual pick for alcove and apron tubs and for multi-family turns. Deck or rim mount is the one to use when the tub sits away from any wall or the valve is already roughed into the deck. This spout is wall mount only.
7) Is the TOTO GC tub spout solid brass or plated zinc?
Solid brass body with a corrosion resistant finish, and it weighs 3.2 lb, which is consistent with a cast brass spout rather than a thin plated shell. That holds up better in hotel and apartment service where a spout gets grabbed and leaned on.
8) What does laminar flow mean on this tub spout, and will it splash?
Laminar flow delivers an even, non aerated column of water instead of a bubbled spray, so the stream stays tight as it drops into the tub. Combined with the 8-1/4 inch reach it lands water well inside the bath rather than running down the wall side of the tub.
