TOTO TBG09001U#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the TOTO Global Edge wall tub spout come with a valve or rough-in?
No. The TBG09001U wall tub spout ships as the spout only, with no valve and no drain included. You order the tub filler valve and rough-in body separately, plus a drain assembly if the tub needs one. Plan on that when you quote the job, because the spout alone will not complete the installation.
2) What size supply connection does the TOTO GM wall tub spout use?
It connects with 1/2 inch NPT threads, so it mates to a standard 1/2 inch NPT male nipple off the valve or stub-out. No proprietary adapter, no slip-fit setscrew connection, which is what makes it a straightforward swap on threaded rough-ins.
3) How far does this TOTO tub spout stick out from the wall?
Reach is 6-7/8 inches from the wall. Overall the spout measures 7.6875 x 2.638 x 2.625 inches. Use the 6-7/8 inch reach to check that water lands inside the tub rim rather than on it, which matters most on drop-in tubs with a wide deck or on a freestanding tub set off the wall.
4) Is this a wall-mount or deck-mount tub spout?
Wall mounted. It is designed to come off the wall above the tub, which keeps the tub deck clear and makes cleaning easier. If your rough-in comes up through the tub deck or the floor, this is the wrong spout and you need a deck-mount or freestanding floor-mount tub filler instead.
5) Is the TOTO GM tub spout brass or plated plastic?
Solid brass, with a corrosion resistant finish. For hospitality, multi-family, or any high-turnover bath, that is the material you want on an exposed spout since plated zinc and plastic bodies are what fail first at the wall joint.
6) Does this TOTO tub spout have a diverter for a handshower or showerhead?
No diverter. The Global Edge wall spout is a plain laminar-flow filler spout, so any shower or handshower diversion has to happen at the valve. Specify a diverter valve or a tub/shower valve with an integral diverter if the opening needs both outlets.
7) Why does this TOTO spout use laminar flow instead of an aerator?
Laminar flow sends a clear, evenly distributed column of water rather than an aerated spray. On a tub filler that means less splashing as the tub fills and a cleaner looking stream. There is no aerator screen to clog or clean on the outlet.
8) How much does the TOTO GM wall tub spout weigh?
3.2 lbs. That weight is the practical tell on the brass body, and it is worth knowing before you mount it: the spout hangs off the wall fitting, so the stub-out needs to be properly secured and blocked behind the finished wall rather than relying on the escutcheon.
