TOTO SC134#01 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the TOTO SC134 seat fit an elongated bowl in a commercial restroom?
The SC134 is an elongated open front seat, so it mounts to a standard elongated bowl. Open front (no closed ring at the front) is the configuration most commercial and institutional restrooms specify. If your fixtures are round front bowls, this is the wrong shape and you need a round front seat instead.
2) Does the TOTO SC134 open front toilet seat come with a lid?
It does. Open front seats are frequently sold without one, so this matters when a facility spec calls for a covered seat. The SC134 ships as seat plus cover, with a contoured lid and a finger lift so staff and users can raise it without touching the seat surface.
3) What comes in the box with the TOTO SC134 toilet seat, or do I need to buy hinges separately?
Everything for the install is in the carton: the seat and lid, a concealed hinge, four color matched bumpers, and the mounting hardware. Nothing else has to be ordered to hang it on the bowl. For an MRO stockroom that means one line item per seat rather than a seat and a separate hinge kit.
4) Is the TOTO SC134 seat durable enough for a high traffic public restroom?
It is a solid plastic seat molded in polypropylene, built for commercial application rather than residential use. Solid molded plastic is what holds up to heavy public traffic and repeated chemical cleaning, unlike a wood core seat with a painted or enamel surface that chips at the hinge posts.
5) What color is the TOTO SC134#01 toilet seat, and will it match my TOTO fixtures?
The SC134#01 is Cotton White, which is TOTO's standard #01 color code and matches Cotton White bowls across the TOTO line. The four bumpers are color matched to the seat, so nothing on the underside shows a different shade when the lid is up. If your bowls are a different TOTO color, the #01 suffix is the part of the number to change.
6) Should I specify an open front seat or a closed front seat for my building's restrooms?
Open front, like the SC134, is what commercial and institutional restrooms normally call for, and many plumbing codes require it for public use. Closed front with a cover is the usual choice for private residential or hotel guest rooms. The SC134 covers a case some buyers miss: open front and a lid together, for facilities that want the sanitary front opening without leaving the bowl uncovered.
7) Is the hinge on the TOTO SC134 exposed or concealed?
Concealed. The hinge is hidden rather than sitting proud on top of the china, which leaves fewer seams and crevices at the back of the seat for a janitorial crew to work around. Mounting hardware for the hinge is supplied with the seat.
