TOTO SS227#01 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the TOTO SS227 SoftClose seat fit any elongated toilet, or only certain TOTO bowls?
Only the TOTO RP Compact D-shape wall-hung bowl. The SS227 was shaped for that bowl specifically, so it will not sit correctly on a standard elongated or round-front bowl from TOTO or anyone else. If your bowl isn't an RP Compact D-shape, you need a seat matched to that bowl's footprint instead.
2) Does the SS227 toilet seat come with the mounting hardware, or do I have to order bolts separately?
All mounting and installation hardware ships with the seat, along with the installation instructions and care guidelines. Nothing extra to buy to hang it on the bowl.
3) Can the seat be taken off quickly for cleaning around the hinges?
Yes. The SS227 uses quick release hinges, so the seat lifts off the bowl for cleaning and goes back on without tools. That matters in multi-family and hospitality settings where housekeeping cleans the bowl rim daily.
4) Do both the seat and the lid soft close, or just the seat?
Both. The SoftClose hinge system is built into the seat and the lid, so each lowers to the bowl slowly and quietly rather than dropping. That's the point of the design, cutting out slam noise and the pinch injuries that come with it.
5) What color does the SS227 seat come in, and what is the exact part number to order?
One finish: Cotton White, TOTO's #01 color code. Order it as SS227#01. If your RP Compact bowl is Cotton White, the seat matches it.
6) I'm standardizing seats across a building of TOTO RP wall-hung fixtures. Is this the matching seat?
For RP Compact D-shape wall-hung bowls, yes, the SS227 is the seat in the RP collection built for that bowl. Note it's the Compact D-shape version specifically, so if some openings in the building use a different RP bowl shape, those take a different seat and you'll be buying two part numbers, not one.
7) What is the TOTO SS227 seat made of, and will it hold up in a commercial restroom?
It's molded from solid high-impact resin plastic, the same material family TOTO uses across its SoftClose seats. The slim profile keeps the look tight to the bowl, and the quick release hinges make routine cleaning faster in high-traffic washrooms.
