TOTO SS249R#01 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the TOTO SS249R seat fit any wall-hung toilet, or only certain bowls?
It is built for the TOTO SP square-front wall-hung bowl, model CT449CFG. The seat is shaped and drilled for that specific bowl, so it is not a general-purpose replacement for round or elongated floor-mount toilets. If your opening has a different wall-hung bowl, this is the wrong seat.
2) What else do I need to buy to complete a TOTO SP wall-hung toilet install with this seat?
The seat ships with its own mounting and installation hardware, so nothing extra is needed to hang the seat itself. The rest of the fixture is separate: the CT449CFG wall-hung bowl and the WT172M in-wall tank system both have to be ordered on their own.
3) What are the actual dimensions of the TOTO SS249R square slim seat?
Overall it measures 19-3/8 inches long by 15-1/4 inches wide, with a height of 1-1/8 inches. The seat ring itself is only 3/8 inch thick, which is where the slim profile comes from. Weight is listed at 9 lbs. Use the length and width to check clearance against an adjacent vanity or wall before install.
4) Is this a soft close seat, and does it come off for cleaning?
Both. The seat and lid ride on a built-in SoftClose hinge that lowers them to the bowl slowly instead of slamming, and the hinges are quick-release so the whole seat lifts off the bowl for cleaning underneath and around the hinge posts. That combination is worth specifying in high-traffic restrooms where slamming lids and cleaning time are both complaints.
5) Is this seat square or elongated?
Square. The SS249R has a square front to match the SP square-shape wall-hung bowl, so it will not seat correctly on a standard elongated or round-front rim.
6) What is the SS249R seat made of, and will it hold up in a commercial restroom?
The seat is solid high-impact resin plastic in a thin, rigid profile rather than a molded wood or padded seat. That is the same material family TOTO uses across its commercial seats, and it cleans with standard non-abrasive restroom products. Follow the care guidance packed with the seat to avoid hazing the finish.
7) Does the SS249R come in colors other than white?
Cotton White is the only finish offered, ordered as SS249R#01. The #01 suffix is TOTO's Cotton White code, so it matches Cotton White SP bowls and the rest of a #01 fixture package.
8) Where can I get the spec sheet and replacement parts breakdown for the SS249R?
TOTO publishes both a spec sheet and a parts manual for this seat, and both PDFs are carried with the product record. The parts manual is the one to pull when you need hinge or bumper part identification for a repair rather than a full seat replacement.
