TOTO THP5638#BN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly comes with the TOTO THP5638 slide bar part?
THP5638 is the mounting hardware for a TOTO shower slide bar, the bar and shower hanger assembly used to hold a handshower on the wall. It is a replacement/mounting hardware part for a shower or tub installation, not a complete handshower kit, so the handshower head and hose are ordered separately.
2) Which finish is TOTO THP5638#BN?
The suffix after the hash on a TOTO part number is the finish code, and #BN is TOTO's brushed nickel. Ordered as THP5638#BN, the slide bar hardware is the brushed nickel version, which is what you want if the rest of the shower trim in the bath is TOTO brushed nickel.
3) Can I use the THP5638 slide bar on a tub as well as a shower?
Yes. The THP5638 hardware is listed for both shower and tub use, so it works on a tub/shower combination wall where a handshower needs to be parked and height-adjusted.
4) Is THP5638 a service part for an existing TOTO shower, or something I can spec on a new install?
Both. THP5638#BN is a TOTO slide bar and shower hanger mounting hardware assembly, so a property manager replacing a damaged bar on an existing TOTO handshower and a contractor mounting a new one both order the same part. Order it by the full part number including the finish code, THP5638#BN.
