TOTO THP5468#BN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the TOTO THP5468#BN part?
It is a replacement handle for a TOTO thermostatic mixing valve trim, serving the volume control and diverter function. You are buying the handle itself, not the valve body or the thermostatic cartridge, so the rough-in valve must already be in the wall.
2) Is the THP5468 an ADA compliant lever handle?
Yes, it is TOTO's ADA style handle for the volume control and diverter position, meaning it is a lever you can operate without tight grasping or twisting of the wrist. That makes it the handle to specify on guest rooms, patient baths, and multi-family units being brought up to accessible operation.
3) My TOTO shower handle snapped off, can I replace just the handle?
Yes. THP5468#BN is sold as the volume control and diverter handle on its own, so a broken or stripped handle can be swapped without disturbing the valve in the wall or re-tiling. Confirm the broken handle carries the THP5468 designation, since TOTO uses separate handle part numbers for the thermostatic temperature side and for other trim series.
4) What finish is TOTO THP5468#BN and what does the suffix mean?
The #BN suffix is TOTO's brushed nickel finish, and it is the only finish this handle is supplied in under part number THP5468#BN. If your other trim pieces are polished chrome or polished nickel, order the matching suffix instead so the shower wall doesn't end up mixed.
5) Will the THP5468 handle also control water temperature?
No. On a TOTO thermostatic setup the temperature is set by a separate thermostatic handle; THP5468 is the second handle, which turns the water volume up and down and diverts flow between outlets such as showerhead and hand shower. If what you need is the temperature control, this is the wrong half of the trim.
6) Can I use this handle to standardize shower trim across a hotel or apartment property?
It works for that where the existing valves are TOTO thermostatic mixing valves using the THP5468 handle. Ordering the brushed nickel #BN version in quantity gives maintenance one handle on the shelf for every unit, and the lever form keeps the openings on an accessible operating style.
