1) How many padlocks can the ABUS butterfly lockout hasp hold?
Two capacities are made: a 6-lock hasp (18025) and a 10-lock hasp (18023). Pick the capacity by how many people have to sign onto the energy isolation point, since every authorized worker puts their own padlock through the hasp and the machine cannot be re-energized until the last one comes off. If a crew of eight touches the same disconnect, the 6-lock version leaves two people without a hole.
2) What size padlock shackle fits the ABUS butterfly lockout hasp?

The hasp measures 4-1/2 inches wide when closed around the jaws, so it needs an opening that will accept its own shackle-style jaw and enough clearance around the isolation point for a 4-1/2 inch body to hang. On a crowded breaker panel or a valve with tight surrounding pipe, measure the free space first. Where clearance is the problem, a cable-style lockout run to a hasp mounted off to the side is the usual answer.
5) Should I standardize on the 6-lock or 10-lock ABUS lockout hasp across a facility?
Buy for the largest crew that will ever work a single isolation point, not the average one. The 10-lock hasp (18023) covers bigger group lockouts and still works fine with two locks on it. The 6-lock (18025) is the leaner choice for panels and valves where only a couple of trades are ever involved and space around the device is tight. Many facilities stock both and put the larger one at main disconnects.
