The 72/30 serves as an excellent complement to the 74 safety locks. Whether aluminum, stainless steel, or high-quality steel, the right choice of shackle is available for every need. It can also be combined with the 74 in a locking system. The 72/30 significantly helps to protect your employees. Firstly, with the key-retaining feature: The key can only be pulled out when the padlock is actually locked. This protects against unauthorized access. 1) What is the difference between the ALO701 and ALO702 lockout hasps?
The difference is the jaw opening. The ALO701 gives you a 1 inch opening diameter and the ALO702 a 1-1/2 inch opening. Everything else is the same aluminum 6-lock body. Pick the 1 inch version for standard electrical disconnect handles and breaker lockout devices, and the 1-1/2 inch version when you need to get around a thicker valve handle, a larger latch, or a stacked lockout device.
2) How many padlocks can be put on the ABUS ALO70X lockout hasp?
Six. The ALO70X aluminum lockout/tagout hasp takes up to six padlocks at once, so six separate workers can each apply their own lock and the energy source stays isolated until the last one comes off. That is the standard group lockout arrangement under a one-worker-one-lock program.
3) Will my padlock shackle fit through the ABUS ALO70X hasp?
The lock holes on the ALO70X are sized for a 3/8 inch shackle, which covers most standard safety padlocks used in lockout programs. If your padlocks use a heavier shackle than 3/8 inch they will not pass through the lock eyes. Thinner shackles fit without issue, they will just sit loose in the hole.
4) Which ABUS padlock should I pair with an aluminum lockout hasp?
The ABUS 72/30 safety padlock is the usual companion. It has an anodized aluminum body, a 5-pin precision cylinder, and it is key-retaining, meaning the key only releases once the lock is actually closed on the hasp, so nobody can walk away with a lock hanging open. It comes in red, blue, green, yellow, brown, violet, silver, black and orange, which is how most shops assign a color per trade or per shift.
5) Can the padlocks used on this lockout hasp be keyed alike or master keyed?
Yes, if you pair the hasp with ABUS 72/30 safety padlocks. Those are available keyed alike, master keyed and grand master keyed, and the cylinder can be rekeyed to an existing key. Most safety programs actually want them keyed differently, one key per worker, with a supervisor master held for emergency removal.
