1) My exit devices are Von Duprin and Falcon, not Precision. Which ACSI 1550K latch retraction kit do I order?
Not the MDP, that suffix is Precision 2000 and 5000 only. ACSI matches the kit to the device family: 1550K-MDV for Von Duprin 33A/35A and 98/99, 1550K-MDV22 for Von Duprin 22, 1550K-MDF for Falcon 24/25, 1550K-MDO for Falcon 1690/1790, 1550K-MDC for Corbin Russwin ED4000/ED5000 and Yale 7000, 1550K-MDD for Dorma 9000, 1550K-MDT for Hager 4500/4600, PDQ 6200 and Stanley QED100/200/300, 1550K-MDS for Sargent 80 and Arrow 1000/3000/4000, 1550K-MDH for Design Hardware 1000, and 1550K-MDX for Dorex 9500. 2) Does the ACSI 1550K-MDP include the exit device, or is it only the retraction hardware?
Only the modification. The 1550K-MDP is the electric motor latch retraction kit that goes into a Precision 2000 or 5000 exit device you already own or are buying separately, so the panic bar itself is not part of it. To finish the opening you also need a 24VDC power supply, ACSI's Series 1400 supplies being the recommended match, and whatever signals the release: card reader, push button or time schedule.
3) What power supply and voltage does the ACSI 1550K-MDP motor latch retraction kit need?
24VDC, and ACSI names its own Series 1400 power supplies as the recommended source. Current draw is low and the motor carries a continuous duty rating, so it can be held retracted for long periods rather than only pulsed. Wiring is forgiving too, the leads are non-polarized, so there is no positive and negative to get backwards at the device end.
4) Can the ACSI 1550K-MDP be used on a fire-rated door with fire exit hardware?
Yes. The 1550K-MDP modification is UL Listed for both panic hardware and fire exit hardware, which is the distinction that matters on a labeled opening, and it interfaces with life-safety systems. That interface is not optional on a fire door: the retraction has to drop out on alarm so the latches project and the device relatches. On a non-rated panic opening you can hold it retracted all day; on a fire door it stays tied to the alarm.
5) Can I keep a Precision panic device unlatched for push-pull operation during business hours with an electric latch retraction kit?
That is exactly what the motorized kit does. Energize it and it retracts the latch and dogs the device with the push bar depressed at the same time, so the door pushes and pulls free with no one touching the bar. 8) How many ACSI 1550K-MDP kits do I need for a pair of doors with Precision surface vertical rod devices?
One kit per device. The 1550K-MDP modifies a single exit device, so a pair with a device on each leaf takes two, and both need to be fed from the 24VDC supply. Surface vertical rod is one of the device styles the kit works with, along with rim, mortise and concealed vertical rod, so a pair of SVR Precision devices is a normal application for it.
