1) What is the difference between fail-safe and fail-secure on the ACSI 1560 electric trim control?
It decides what the outside lever does when power drops. Fail-safe (power lock) keeps the outside trim locked while power is applied and unlocks the moment power is removed, so the opening is free on a power failure. Fail-secure (power unlock) is the reverse: trim is unlocked while energized and locks when power is removed. Both are ordered as separate options on the 1560, so you pick one at order time, and each is available in 12VAC, 12VDC, 24VAC and 24VDC. Egress from the inside is unaffected either way, since the 1560 only controls the outside lever trim of the exit device.
2) What exactly does the ACSI 1560 do to an exit device?
The 1560 is a modification to the outside lever trim of an exit device, giving you a remote means of locking or unlocking that lever electrically. It does not retract the latch and it does not change how the push bar works from the inside. Think of it as electrifying the trim so a card reader, keypad or console can control outside access while the device itself stays mechanical.
3) Which exit device trim does ACSI modify for the 1560 electric trim control?
ACSI's stock base for the 1560/1570 electric trim control is the Von Duprin 996L lever trim, supplied in 626 satin chrome or 613 oil rubbed bronze finish. That is the trim the modification is built on, so if your openings are already running Von Duprin devices with 996L trim, the finish will match what is on the rest of the building.
4) Can I run the ACSI 1560 trim control on my existing 12V access control power supply?
Yes. The 1560 is offered in 12VDC, 12VAC, 24VDC and 24VAC, so it matches whatever the panel or supply already puts out, and voltage is chosen when you order rather than field-set. It is continuous duty rated with low power consumption, so it can sit energized all day on an access control circuit without a duty cycle limit.
5) Can the ACSI 1560 be tied into a fire alarm or life-safety system?
