Adams Rite 41-0942-01-121-IB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Adams Rite lockset does part 41-0942-01-121-IB go with?
It is the interior-side escutcheon operator for the Adams Rite 4189 flush lockset. The part number is 41-0942-01-121-IB, and it is built to OEM spec as a direct replacement within that 4189 assembly, not as a universal escutcheon for other lock series.
2) Is this the complete lockset or just a replacement piece?
Just a piece. This is the interior escutcheon operator only, the component on the inside face of the door that you turn to work the flush lockset. If your latch, cam, or exterior trim is also damaged, those are separate parts of the 4189 assembly and are not included here.
3) Can a Schlage Electronics CO Series escutcheon be used in place of the Adams Rite 4189 interior escutcheon operator?
No. The Adams Rite 41-0942-01-121-IB is the mechanical interior escutcheon operator for the Adams Rite 4189 flush lockset, built to OEM dimensions for that lockset and for doors 1 inch to 1-5/8 inch thick. The Schlage Electronics 47260707 is an exterior escutcheon for CO Series cylindrical and mortise locks and is a keypad component, so it serves an electronic access control lock rather than a flush lockset operator. If you are repairing a 4189 flush lockset, stay with the Adams Rite part.
4) What finish does the Adams Rite 4189 interior escutcheon operator come in?
One finish only: 121 Dark Bronze. Adams Rite applies its Ritecoat paint in dark bronze on this operator, a corrosion-resistant coating meant to hold up in commercial entrances. If the rest of your storefront hardware is clear aluminum or black anodized, the replacement will not match visually.
5) I manage a property with several storefront doors on the 4189 lockset. Can I standardize on this part?
Yes, provided the doors fall in the 1 inch to 1-5/8 inch thickness range and your existing trim is dark bronze. Because it is an OEM drop-in for the 4189 series, keeping a few on the shelf lets maintenance swap a worn interior operator without pulling the whole lockset.
6) Is the MS Sedco ESC escutcheon plate an alternative to the Adams Rite 4189 interior escutcheon?
They are different parts despite the shared word. The MS Sedco ESC is a decorative stainless escutcheon plate for R4 and R6 round switches, so it trims a switch opening. The Adams Rite 41-0942-01-121-IB is a commercial replacement part that operates the interior side of the Adams Rite 4189 flush lockset on doors 1 inch to 1-5/8 inch thick. Use the MS Sedco plate only where you are dressing a round push switch, not where you are rebuilding a lockset.
7) Is this escutcheon operator suitable for a high traffic commercial entrance?
It is a commercial-grade part, built to Adams Rite's commercial hardware standards for the 4189 flush lockset. Typical placements are office buildings, retail storefronts, schools, healthcare and government facilities, and multi-tenant properties, all openings that see repeated daily cycles.
8) We are standardizing an aged or dark bronze look across a facility entrance. How does the Adams Rite 4189 escutcheon in Dark Bronze compare with the bronze Schlage CO escutcheon?
The Adams Rite 41-0942-01-121-IB carries a 121 Dark Bronze Anodized finish and is the interior operator escutcheon for the Adams Rite 4189 flush lockset. The Schlage Electronics 47260708 is offered in an Aged Bronze finish and is an exterior escutcheon for CO-100 exit trim with a keypad. They are finish-similar but serve different hardware, so match each to the lock it belongs to and treat the finishes as separate manufacturer standards rather than an exact visual match.
