Securitron ASB-82CL – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Securitron ASB-82 spacer bracket used for?
The ASB-82 is an aluminum shim bracket for the Securitron M82 Magnalock. It gets used when a blade stop in the frame forces the Magnalock to sit lower than its normal mounting position. The bracket comes pre-drilled specifically for that lock's mounting bolts and the wire run, so you are not drilling the shim on site.
2) Will the ASB-82 bracket fit a Securitron M62 or M32 Magnalock?
No. The ASB-82 is drilled lock-specific for the M82 Magnalock. Securitron makes separate shim brackets for the other Magnalock sizes, so match the bracket number to the lock model you are mounting rather than trying to adapt this one.
3) My frame has a blade stop, can I mount the M82 mag lock without a spacer?
A blade stop projecting into the header usually prevents the Magnalock from seating flat where it needs to sit, and the fix is to lower the lock on a shim. The ASB-82 is the aluminum spacer made for that on the M82, pre-drilled so the bolt pattern and wire hole line up with the lock.
4) Do I still need a way to mount the strike if I use this spacer bracket?
The ASB-82 includes a blind nut, which lets you surface mount the strike on the door leaf. That is the piece installers most often get caught out by when shimming a mag lock, and it is built into the bracket.
5) What finishes does the Securitron ASB-82 come in, and how do I order the right one?
Two anodized finishes. ASB-82CL is clear anodized and ASB-82BK is black anodized. Pick the one that matches the Magnalock housing and the frame, since the shim sits visible between the lock and the header.
6) Is the ASB-82 bracket suitable for commercial openings?
Yes, it is a commercial-duty aluminum accessory for Magnalock installations, the kind of part a security integrator or facility MRO group keeps on hand when frames in a building have blade stops. It is a replacement/accessory part, not a lock in itself, so the M82 Magnalock and its strike are ordered separately.
