1) What is the Securitron CWB-82 bracket used for?
The CWB-82 is a mounting bracket for the Securitron M82 Magnalock. It mounts the magnet on wood frames or concrete-filled metal frames, where you cannot pull a blind nut or through-bolt cleanly, and it gives you a concealed chamber to run the lock wiring inside.
2) Do I need a concrete/wood bracket, or can I just blind-nut the maglock to the frame?
Blind nuts work on a hollow metal frame you can reach into. Two anodized finishes: clear aluminum and black anodized. Order CWB-82CL for clear anodized or CWB-82BK for black anodized. Pick the one that matches the M82 magnet housing you are mounting so the header reads as one assembly.
4) Does the CWB-82 hide the maglock wiring, or do I still need a raceway?
The bracket itself forms a concealed wire chamber, so the magnet leads run inside the bracket and out of sight instead of being surface routed across the header. That is one of the main reasons integrators specify it on wood frames where drilling a clean wire path through the header is awkward.
5) I need a parallel arm bracket for a door closer, is this the right part?
No. The CWB-82 mounts a Securitron M82 electromagnetic lock, not a closer. For closer mounting hardware, look at parallel arm brackets such as the Corbin Russwin 615F5 or 188F41 closer parts instead.
6) I searched brackets and found the Corbin Russwin 188F41 and the Securitron CWB-82 - what is the difference?
They serve two different pieces of hardware. The Corbin Russwin 188F41 is a parallel arm bracket for commercial door closers. The Securitron CWB-82 is a replacement mounting bracket for the Securitron M82 magnetic lock, used on wood or concrete filled metal frames, and it is often chosen in place of blind nuts because it routes the lock wiring through a concealed chamber. If the job is a maglock install, the CWB-82 is the bracket; if you are rebuilding a closer, the 188F41 is the closer-side part.
7) Is the Corbin Russwin 597F78 cover assembly an alternative to the CWB-82 for concealing wiring?
No. The Corbin Russwin 597F78 is a standard full cover with insert assembly for commercial door closers and functions as a parallel arm bracket component, so it conceals closer hardware rather than low voltage wiring. The Securitron CWB-82 conceals the M82 magnetic lock wiring inside the bracket body itself and is available in black anodized or clear anodized to match the frame.
