1) What is the Securitron CWB-680 bracket used for?
The CWB-680 is a mounting bracket for Securitron's FM680E and DEM680E magnetic locks, used when the header is wood or a concrete-filled metal frame. It gives you a concealed chamber to run the lock wiring through, so the wire is not exposed at the header. In a lot of installs it is faster than trying to set blind nuts into the frame.
2) Will the CWB-680 bracket work with my Securitron maglock?
Only with the FM680E and the DEM680E. The CWB-680 is built for those two Securitron models, so if you are mounting a different Magnalock model you need the bracket matched to that lock, not this one.
3) Do I need a concrete/wood bracket to mount an FM680E on a wood door frame?
A wood header, or a metal frame filled with concrete, is exactly the case the CWB-680 covers. Through-bolting with blind nuts is hard or impossible in those frames, so the bracket carries the lock instead and routes the wire inside its own chamber. On a hollow metal frame where you can set blind nuts, you may not need it.
4) What finishes does the Securitron CWB-680 come in, and how do I order the right one?
Two: black anodized, ordered as CWB-680BK, and clear anodized, ordered as CWB-680CL. Pick the one that matches your maglock housing so the bracket does not stand out at the header. Clear anodized aluminum is the common match for a standard aluminum-finish lock; black for a black-finish opening.
5) Is a Securitron CWB-680 the same thing as a parallel arm bracket for a door closer?
No, and they are not interchangeable. The CWB-680 is a maglock mounting bracket for Securitron FM680E and DEM680E locks in wood or concrete-filled frames. If what you need is a closer bracket, that is a different part entirely, such as the Corbin Russwin 615F5 or 188F41 parallel arm brackets. Ordering one when you need the other leaves you with hardware that will not mount.
6) Can I hide the maglock wiring at the header with the CWB-680?
The bracket includes a concealed wire chamber, so the run from the lock into the frame stays inside the bracket rather than being surface-run or exposed at the header. That is one of the main reasons integrators specify it on wood headers where you cannot easily drill and fish a clean path.
7) Is the CWB-680 bracket suitable for commercial door openings?
