Securitron SWB-03 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the Securitron SWB wood bracket actually do on a SAM installation?
The SWB is a reinforcing bracket for the SAM strike plate when the SAM is mounted on a wood door. Wood alone doesn't give the strike plate much to hold onto under pull, so the bracket adds strength and protects the strike plate area. It is an installation accessory for Securitron Magnalock hardware, not a lock or a strike by itself.
2) Do I need the SWB bracket if my SAM is going on a hollow metal or aluminum door?
No. The SWB bracket is specifically for wood door applications, where the SAM strike plate needs extra backing. On metal or aluminum doors the bracket isn't part of the SAM install.
3) What finishes does the Securitron SWB SAM wood bracket come in?
Three, and they are ordered by part number: SWB-03 in polished brass (605), SWB-10B in oil rubbed bronze (613), and SWB-26D in satin stainless, shown as 652 satin chromium plated. Pick the one that matches the SAM strike plate finish already on the opening so the exposed hardware reads the same across your doors.
4) How tall is the SWB wood bracket?
The SWB bracket measures 2 inches in height. That is the dimension to check against the available flat area on the door face where the SAM strike plate lands, particularly on a stile-and-rail wood door where rail width is tight.
5) Can I use the SWB bracket with another brand's electromagnetic lock?
The SWB is built around the Securitron SAM strike plate and its mounting, so it is not a universal reinforcing plate for other brands. If you are sourcing accessories for a different system, ZenSupply carries brand-specific parts such as the HES 1000-102 rain guard for 1006 Series electric strikes or the Dortronics 6510/COV tamper cover for 6500 Series pull stations, but those serve different hardware entirely.
6) Is the HES 1000-102 rain guard an alternative to the Securitron SWB SAM wood bracket?
No. The Securitron SWB SAM Wood Bracket is an installation accessory that adds strength and protection for the SAM strike plate in wood door applications. The HES 1000-102 is a 1006 Series rain guard for electric strikes, used in rain or high dust areas. One reinforces a SAM strike in a wood door, the other shields an electric strike from weather and dust, so they are not interchangeable.
7) If I need to get power through a wood door instead of reinforcing a strike, what should I use?
The Securitron SWB SAM Wood Bracket does not carry power; it is an installation accessory that strengthens and protects the SAM strike plate in a wood door. For transferring power through the door edge, the RCI 9500/9501 Series mortise pin transfer is rated 1.5A at 24VAC and has a tamper-resistant design.
8) What finishes does the Securitron SWB bracket come in, and is there an equivalent accessory if I need a request-to-exit signal from the door?
The SWB SAM Wood Bracket is offered in 605 bright brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, and 652 satin chromium plated. It is purely a mechanical reinforcement for the SAM strike plate, so it provides no egress signal. If a request-to-exit contact is what the opening needs, the DynaLock 6451-36 exit sensor bar is built for a 36 inch door, and the Command Access REX-KIT-ML is a field installable request to exit kit for ML1-Series mortise locks.
9) Is the SWB bracket rated for commercial door use?
Yes, the SWB SAM wood bracket is a commercial door hardware item, sold as part of the Securitron electronic access control line for Magnalock installations. It is the kind of part a security integrator or facility maintenance group buys alongside the SAM strike hardware.
10) Does the SWB bracket need to be wired or powered?
No wiring goes to the bracket itself. It is a mechanical reinforcing plate for the SAM strike on wood doors. The power and control all belong to the Magnalock and its strike side, not to this part.
11) Does the Securitron SWB bracket protect the hardware from tampering the way a cover does?
The SWB SAM Wood Bracket adds strength and protection for the SAM strike plate itself in wood door applications; it is a 2 inch high mounting accessory, not an enclosure. For tamper protection over a control device, the Dortronics 6510/COV anti-tamper alarm cover fits 6500 Series pull stations and 5000 Series push buttons.
