1) Which Aiphone LEF systems does the BG-10C adaptor work with?
The BG-10C adds All Call and door chime to Aiphone LEF-C and LEF-10S systems. All Call can be transmitted from the LEF-1C, LEF-3C, LEF-5C, LEF-10C and LEF-10S masters, and every LEF master station can receive an All Call page. If your intercom is not an LEF series unit, this is the wrong adaptor.
2) What cable do I need to run between the BG-10C and the LEF-10C master?
That run takes up to 19 conductors, and Aiphone calls for their #822220 cable. Each LE-D or LE-DA door station off the adaptor needs 3 wires, using Aiphone #822203. Plan the conduit fill around the 19-wire home run, it is the biggest pull in the job.
3) Can I pipe background music through an Aiphone LEF intercom with this adaptor?
Yes. The BG-10C has a background music input on AUX R, E and AUX L, E, so a music source feeds in there. You get music on/off switching, a music and chime selector per station, and bass and treble controls on the adaptor itself. The music source, amplifier feed aside, is not supplied with the unit.
4) How much current does the Aiphone BG-10C draw?
Current consumption is 100mA. Add that to the load of the LEF masters and door stations when you size or verify the system power supply.
5) Can I set different stations to get music versus chime only?
Yes, that is the point of the per-station selector. Each station has its own music and chime selector switch, so a shop floor can take background music while an office takes chime only. Chime volume, All Call pre-tone volume and speech volume are set separately at the adaptor.
6) Does the BG-10C include its own amplifier, or do I need a separate one for paging?
The amplifier is built into the BG-10C. It drives the All Call page and the chime through the LEF stations, with independent pre-tone and speech volume controls so the attention tone is not louder than the announcement. No external paging amp is needed for LEF-C or LEF-10S All Call.
7) Does adding the BG-10C give my LEF system a door chime, or do I still need a separate chime?
The adaptor supplies the door chime for LEF-C and LEF-10S systems, with its own chime volume control. Door stations wire back through it using 3 conductors each (Aiphone #822203) for LE-D and LE-DA doors, so the chime and the door call share the same run.
8) Is the Aiphone BG-10C meant for commercial buildings or homes?
It is a commercial-duty accessory, built for LEF intercom systems in offices, schools, warehouses and similar facilities where an All Call page and door chime across multiple stations matters. It is an electronic component, not a mechanical door part, and it mounts inside the system rather than on the door.
