IXGW-GW Lifetime License Gateway Adaptor provides the AIPHONE IXG mobile app lifetime license code and a physical IXGW-GW adaptor (see full list of models below). Simply choose the model based on the location, and size of the project, rounding up from the number of tenants you have. Only one gateway adaptor is allowed per system. This adaptor allows the system to be programmed to call cloud-based mobile apps.

1) How many Aiphone IXGW-GW gateways do I need for a 180 unit apartment building?
One. Only one gateway adaptor is allowed per IXG system, so you size the single unit to the tenant count, rounding up. For 180 tenants that means the IXGW-GW-200 model. License counts run 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450 and 500, so pick the first number at or above your unit count and order that one.
2) Can I add more app licenses to an Aiphone IXGW-GW gateway later if the building fills up?
The license count is fixed to the model you buy. Each IXGW-GW ships with a set quantity of prepaid lifetime app licenses (10 up to 500) and only one gateway is allowed per system, so you cannot stack a second gateway to add capacity. If you expect the tenant count to grow, buy the next size up at install. The hardware itself supports up to 9,999 IXG apps, so the license count, not the adaptor, is the ceiling.
3) Will the Aiphone IXGW-GW work on a Canadian project?
No. The IXGW-GW models with prepaid lifetime app licenses are USA only. Aiphone builds separate models for Canada, so a US gateway is the wrong part for a project north of the border.
4) How many tenants can share one Aiphone IXG app license, and how many phones per unit?
A license covers a tenant, and up to eight apps can be registered per tenant. So a unit with two residents plus a caregiver still counts as one tenant against the license total. The IXG app runs on iOS and Android devices.
5) What does the Aiphone IXGW-GW actually do that the IXG entrance stations and tenant stations cannot?
The gateway is what lets an IXG system place calls out to cloud based mobile apps. Without it, an entrance station call only rings the hardwired stations on the system. Add the IXGW-GW and the same door call can reach a resident's smartphone or tablet, so a tenant can screen a visitor and release the door from anywhere. It is an adaptor plus the lifetime license code, not a station.
6) How many calls can the Aiphone IXGW-GW gateway handle at once in a busy lobby?
Eight simultaneous call paths. That is the limit on concurrent app calls moving through the gateway at any moment, regardless of whether you bought the 10 license model or the 500. On a large mixed use property with several entrances, that ceiling matters more than the license count during peak arrival times.
7) How does the Aiphone IXGW-GW gateway mount and get power in the equipment closet?
It is DIN rail mountable and PoE compliant, so it lands on the rail in the IDF alongside the rest of the low voltage gear and takes power over the same Ethernet run as its data. No separate power supply or outlet at the rail.
8) Do the Aiphone IXG mobile app licenses need renewing every year?
No annual renewal. The IXGW-GW ships with prepaid lifetime app licenses for the tenant count on the model you order, so the app licensing is a one time line item at install rather than a recurring cost the property has to budget for.
9) Is the Aiphone IXGW-GW gateway meant for a single family home or a commercial building?
Commercial. The IXGW-GW is built for multi-tenant work, apartment buildings, high rises and mixed use complexes with retail spaces, where each tenant keeps their own schedule and needs to answer the door from a phone. The smallest license count is 10 tenants, so it is not sized for a single residence.
